The Juvenile Investigations unit performs statutory mandated functions for the Juvenile Delinquency Court. Deputy probation officers prepare pre-adjudicated, pre-disposition, and post-disposition, as well as record sealing investigation reports. Preparation of these reports entails compiling and presenting the detailed social histories of juvenile offenders charged with delinquency acts, summarizing the details of the offense(s) and formulating an appropriate dispositional recommendation for the Court’s consideration. As part of the investigation process, the officers interview the minor, parents, victims, social workers and school officials, as well as other related parties.
These officers complete a risk assessment, which helps in the development of the case plan so the appropriate level of supervision and minors’ needs are addressed from the outset of supervision.
